The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) spread holiday cheer to dozens of children in Clarendon Manchester and the Arnold Road Community on December 5, 10 and 17 respectively, as it staged its annual Make a Child Smile Christmas Treat at the Sanguinetti Community Centre in Clarendon, the Greenvale Community Centre in Manchester and the Mary Seacole House in Kingston.

Held in partnership with the NAJ LASCO Chin foundation Nurse of the Year 2025-2026 and the runners up the event transformed the community centres into a festive space filled with laughter, colour and excitement, as children and their families gathered to celebrate the season.

From early afternoon, the venue buzzed with activity as youngsters eagerly participated in a range of fun-filled attractions. There were interactive games that encouraged teamwork and friendly competition, a lively bounce-about that quickly became a favourite, and face painting that saw smiling faces decorated with bright designs. Children were also treated to prizes, adding to the excitement and sense of celebration. The initiative forms part of the NAJ’s ongoing community outreach, aimed at giving back and positively impacting children, particularly during the Christmas season.

The Nurses Association of Jamaica underscored the importance of collaboration in uplifting communities. Parents and guardians welcomed the initiative, noting that the treats provided a safe and joyful space for children to unwind, socialise and enjoy the festive spirit. For many of the children, the highlight of the day was simply being able to play freely with their peers and feel celebrated.

The Make a Child Smile Christmas Treat has become a staple of the NAJ’s calendar, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to social responsibility. As the event came to a close, the smiles on the children’s faces stood as a clear reminder of the power of simple acts of kindness in creating lasting Christmas memories.
