A significant development this year for the Child Resiliency Programme was a new partnership with Project STAR, established in January 2025. Under this collaboration, the CRP leadership team recruited and trained eight new staff members in the CRP model on January 18. Subsequently, the programme extended its reach to 40 additional referred children from Grade 4 at Holy Family Primary School.
Overall, the programme provided support to 50 at-risk children aged 10-11 from Edward Seaga Primary (formerly Denham Town Primary), Trench Town Primary, Boys Town All Age, St. Alban’s Primary, and St. Annie’s Primary at Boys Town; 25 children at Mountain View Primary and Infant School; 12 children at Chalky Hill Primary; and 40 children at Holy Family Primary School. The children received literacy support, life skills training (including spiritual development), creative and sporting activities to reinforce life skills, as well as family counseling and training. Additionally, all participating children were provided with a daily nutritious meal.
The programme concluded its term with a Sports Day and Behavior Prize-Giving ceremony held from March 24-27, where medals were awarded to students for positive behavior. The term culminated in a field trip to Hope Gardens on March 29, where the winning behavior house received a special prize.
The continued success of the Child Resiliency Programme highlights the vital role of partnerships and community support in fostering resilience and positive development in at-risk youth.
