The Child Resiliency Programme (CRP), with the support of the Joan Duncan Foundation JMMB, has expanded its objectives to include training in Building Peace, Resiliency, and Wellness (PRW) for university students and caregivers of at-risk children. This initiative aims to equip educators and caregivers with essential skills to support children emerging from trauma.
As part of this expansion, the Building Peace, Resiliency, and Wellness curriculum developed by the CRP leadership has been integrated into several academic programmes at the International University of the Caribbean (IUC). These include the Master’s in Educational Administration, the Bachelor of Education, and the Guidance and Counseling and Psychology courses under the Peace Institute of the University. This term, 20 undergraduate students successfully completed the course.
In addition, 27 teachers and guidance counselors from Holy Family Primary School, under the PROJECT STAR initiative, participated in a one-day certificate training workshop in PRW at Alhambra Inn on March 7.
Beyond training educators, CRP has continued its mission to build resilience among children and their parents at Boys Town, Mountain View Primary, and Chalky Hill Primary during the January–March 2025 school term. This work has been supported by the Joan Duncan Foundation, JMMB, VM Foundation, and the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ).
