
The leadership team of the Child Resiliency Programme (CRP) held a sensitisation and training session on Thursday, September 12, at the Alhambra Inn, focusing on the integration of Peace Building, Resiliency, and Wellness (PRW) strategies.
The session was attended by principals, guidance counsellors, and Grade 5 teachers from key feeder schools to the CRP, including St. Annie’s, Trench Town, Boys’ Town, Edward Seaga, St. Alban’s, and Mountain View primary schools.
Preparations for the programme’s rollout this term at Boys’ Town and Mountain View Primary are also underway. On Thursday, September 19, CRP facilitators participated in an implementers training session to ensure smooth operations for the new academic year.
In addition, plans are in place to deliver the Peace Building, Resiliency, and Wellness Course to final-year students in guidance counselling, education, and psychology at the International University’s Peace Institute. The course, which was offered via Google Classroom on September 25.
The programme at Boys’ Town Primary has identified 60 new families referred from feeder schools including Edward Seaga, Boys’ Town, St. Alban’s, Trench Town, and St. Annie’s Primary. Mountain View Primary has also referred 25 new students for participation in the CRP’s cohort for the academic year.
In partnership with the VPA, CRP conducted training at Chalky Hill Primary in St. Ann on September 26. The session focused on implementing the CRP model, including the PRW component, and engaged the wider staff body.
Resource materials such as the CRP Operational Guidelines Handbook and the Building Peace, Resiliency, and Wellness manual are being utilised for all training sessions. Initial discussions have also begun with Project STAR, aiming to replicate the CRP at Holy Family Primary and Infant School in the upcoming academic year.
The CRP’s efforts are part of a broader initiative to foster resilience, peace, and wellness among students and their families across the participating schools.
