The Inspiring Women Igniting Newness (IWIN) Project was officially launched on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Christal Conference Centre in Christiana, Manchester, marking a major milestone in advancing empowerment, mental wellness and educational support for women and girls across Jamaica.

The initiative is designed to empower women aged 15 years and over to fulfil their true purpose by fostering strong support networks, promoting positive mental health practices, providing access to small grants for tertiary education and community projects, and creating a safe, non-judgmental space for sharing experiences and successes.

Speaking at the launch, NAJ/Lasco Chin Foundation Nurse of the Year 2025, Fione Collins, emphasised the transformative vision behind the project.

“The IWIN Project was born out of the belief that when women are supported intentionally and compassionately, they can rise from any adversity,” Collins said. “This initiative is about creating safe spaces, opening doors to opportunity and reminding women and girls that their purpose is valid, valued and achievable.”

The launch was made possible through strong support from the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ), the Lasco Chin Foundation (LCF), the Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), and other community and civic stakeholders. The event was intentionally staged around International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, and reflected the global theme, “Give to Gain".

As part of the initiative, organisers are working to raise $400,000, with four beneficiaries each set to receive $100,000. Recipients include the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (Mandeville Branch); the YADEL Home for Girls in St Catherine; an outstanding Edwin Allen High School student pursuing nursing studies; and a psychiatric nursing aide impacted by a recent traumatic event.

Empowerment messages, musical presentations and heartfelt testimonials underscored the launch, reinforcing the project’s mission to help women rise above adversity, embrace new beginnings and inspire others.
